Drugs

I think that what they are doing is very bad. I think that the parents are just hurting themselves and the child. Drugs don't do anything but kill brain cells.

Mandela and Pericles

1.Stephen Biko and the Athenian soldiers who were praised by Pericles have in common: both died fighting for what they thought was important. Biko died in an African prison and the soldiers died in a war. Therefore i can not support this with any quotations.

2. Mandela was trying to keep alive "the flame of patriotism which burnt in their hearts and minds of the like of Steve Biko; to redeem the pledge to give up a more human face to society for centuries trampled upon by the jackboot of humanity...." 2b. Mandela hoped to accomplish for his country; by forging a new and prosperous nation, also continuing to fight in which Steve Biko paid the supreme sacrifice."

Poems by Sappho

1. The poem i understood best was the second one called: He Is More Than a Hero. the reason why i understood it was because she was explaining how he makes her weak when she she's him, and how her heart beats fast when he laughs, and how her body shivers when they touch. How she can't speak when he is near her and she grows paler than she ever has before.

3.The way she feels incomplete with out Anactoria, how she reminds her of her sparkling glance and the way she steps, which she admires. The speaker feels about the second poem; how she lusts for him even know she is breathless when she comes in contact. The setting described in: To Aphrodite of the Flowers, at Knossos was nature. How their surrounded by flowers, trees and herbs.

4. Two statements that best apply to Sappho would be: she values intimate moments of friendship. Also, she appreciates the beauty of nature.

6. I think Keisha Cole or Mariah would do Sappho's poems justice if they were set to music. I think they would be able to really make the poems to the best ever. Every one would be
singing these lyrics word by word.

Think Through Mahabarata

Writing Option 2

2. The best Teacher I ever had that really made me excel in any subject was my 8th grade teacher Mr. Greally. He was the only teacher who made science fun and exciting. He was a very good teacher. I took 10th grade science. This is so because the actually had us doing science experiments outside and inside of the class room. Every student wanted to get into his class. Mr. Greally always said, "If you can't touch it, whats the reason for studying it." His teaching methods were very good from my perspective. He taught me a lot that year. Yes, Mr.Greally was somewhat like Drona, but not really.

Ancient literature and people

1. Similarities between the cultures of Mesopotamian era were very organized, the way the language was spoken. Some differences were that the Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, and Egyptians all believed in many different gods. The Hebrews ( who we know as Jews today) only believed in one main god.

Greek Culture

1. The the religion of Greeks were very different from Jews, Christians, and Muslims because the Greeks had no scared writings like a bible or any commandments.

2. The Olympian gods human characteristic's were alike because they showed love, hate, and jealousy towards others.

3. Some features of Athenian democracy were Council of Five Hundred& a lawmaking body called the assembly.

4. Greeks were the greatest thinkers of ancient Greece.

5. Some of the events included in the Olympic games were boxing, wrestling, the javelin and discus throws, and races of all kinds.

Egyptian Literature

2. I could describe the tone/attitude of Nu's speech was very modest.... which i thought was very good.

3.The speaker thinks Ra should be praised because when the Egyptian god of the sun rises, everything comes to life, everything wakes up. When the sun setts, all the world goes bleak, without the sun everything is dead.

4. The speaker's dreaming of herself standing like a bride beside her love because she can't wait to see him. She is planning on seeing him and has been counting on this special moment to happen.

6. The selection I thought gave me the strongest sense of the speaker as a person was "Whenever I leave you, I go out of breath. The way the speaker describes the way they lust for each others love, the person's kisses and the way they feel when the people are not together are indescribable.

7. In the poems: I'm going downstream on Kingswater Canal & Whenever I leave you, I go out of breath; they differ because in the first poem, she talks about how she can't wait to be reunited with her love and the second one states she can't be without her love.

8. The way Egyptians prepared for death is some what similar to what we do. They hurt the way we do but at the same time they don't want to lose a loved one.

Think Through Gilgamesh

Abortion

Well...... I think that it's not the childs fault to be coming in this world. I understand that she has been raped, but you don't have to kill an innocent child. Let that child live a life that can be better than your's!!!!!!

Quest Story

In the story/movie FREEDOM WRITERS, the quest story was to help 150 students read and pass their freshman year. These are not the kind of students you would call "well-behaved". These students come from the streets where their homes are gangs and drugs and even most of them live on their own. Mrs. Gruwell was not well prepared for want these next four years will bring her to tears. Even one of the former teachers told her she wear a bullet proof vest, but from what she heard she did not let that stop what she's loves to do. At th e end of this, she's even has to fight for her students because everyone doubts that they will not succeed. All-in-all, she got her students back. She even has The Erin Gurwell Education Project which is a tax-exempt, nonprofit, public benefit foundation, organized under the laws of the state of Delaware ans tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This movie also tells how freedom of speech helped them achieve the way they are. Don't bite your tounge for anything or anyone!!!!!!!!!!!
